November 2010 - Automobile giant Ford has introduced Kuga, its latest SUV innovation that ticks all the right boxes. An extraordinary creation that is both sporty and sleek, the Kuga stands out for its rugged strength and ingenious functionality. From the exterior finish to the interior's quality, every single component of this sturdy creation has been engineered in Germany for ultimate dependability, safety and strength. With the perfect balance of power, safety, intelligence and style, the Kuga is a head-turning innovation that stands out in the SUV crowd.
Power
The Kuga's power comes in the 2.5 litre, 5-cylinder, 20-valve, DOHC, VVT Turbo engine. The muscular turbocharged engine delivers a massive 200PS (147kW) and 320NM of torque from only 1600rpm. Its durashift 5-speed Auto transmission intuitively judges the right time to change gears for more flexibility and smoother gear shifting. An intelligent all-wheel drive provides optimum torque distribution to each wheel, and the Control Blade independent rear suspension delivers on-road handling and ride unsurpassed by other SUVs. Steering is a breeze with the Electro-hydraulic Power Assisted Steering (EHPAS) that allows lighter steering at lower speeds for ease of manoeuvring. And with less power assistance at higher speeds, you can better feel the road, especially around twists and turns.
Safety
Safety is an all-essential element for any car and the Kuga is built to keep you feeling always protected. An electronically tuned braking system means that you can expect responsive braking anytime, anywhere, on-road or off. Safe and stable braking is assured with the anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Brake-force Distribution and Anti-Rollover System while the Emergency Brake Assist delivers maximum brake power when you need it most, automatically. Safety also comes in the Bi-Xenon Front Lighting System which illuminates hazards the way no conventional halogen lights can and the Emergency Brake Hazard Warning Lights (front and rear) automatically and intelligently flash during heavy braking. Topping it off is the 5-Star Euro NCAP Safety Rating with six airbags that boasts a 100 per cent result in the Euro BCAP Side Impact Test.
Intelligence
Its ingenuity comes in a host of innovative elements. Its split rear tailgate and folding seats lets you access the rear in two ways. You can open the split tailgate when loading smaller items or if you're too close to the wall. More space can be created by opening the whole tailgate and you can even fold the 60/40 rear seats completely flat for up to 1355 litres of luggage space. There are intelligent automatic rain and light sensors that help to keep the rain away from obstructing your view and illuminating the roads when it gets too dark. The patented capless refuelling means you won't have to touch dirty fuel caps while the unique Ford Easy Fuel system allows you to only top of the Kuga with the right type of fuel. Power-fold door mirrors retract out of harm's way when parked to give you more space to move while built-in puddle lamps illuminate the floor so you don't get your feet wet. Cleverness is also evident in the security-encrypted sensors that detects your car keys and readies the engines.
Style
The Kuga isn't just about rugged strength. Stylish elements like the soft textured dashboard, smartly concealed storage compartments and sleek aluminium finishing make it a true beauty. Its cruise control, auto-dimming rear-view mirror and the high-mounted gear level also make driving in style a cinch. Audio enjoyment comes with Sony's premium 6CD/MP3 8-speader audio system and the remote controls on the steering column and a front-loading CD changer help you stay in control of the car and audio at the same time. For added comfort, the dual-Zone Electronic Automatic Temperature Control (DEATC) lets you set a difference in temperature of up to three degrees Celsius between you and your front passenger.
